What level should my player play?
- Select Soccer -
- Challenge teams play teams in the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL). The average travel requirement for Challenge league play is about an hour for four to five games a season with remaining games at home. It provides a good step into a more competitive format.
- The most competitive level is Classic Soccer. Classic teams play other teams from the eastern half of North Carolina in league play which is organized on a state level. Classic level play requires some longer travel times at about 90 minutes travel average for four to five games a season with the remaining games at home. Classic level is for the most serious players requiring significant commitment year round.
How can I join a Select team?
All players must be selected through try outs for a position on Challenge and Classic teams per NCYSA rules. See Select Team Tryouts
What if there is not a team for my age bracket?
RMAYSA Select teams are growing in number and quality. New teams can and will be formed with sufficient interest. Contact us via E-mail for information on additional teams.
What are the costs associated with Select Play?
This varies somewhat on the program each select team chooses to follow. Unlike recreation teams, select teams have a business aspect to them that requires some budgeting and bookkeeping to take place. RMAYSA has a spreadsheet to assist in this planning and will be glad to talk to interested parties and help them through the decision process of going select. We have been very successful in the past in our golf tournament and other fund raisers to keep costs down. RMAYSA has one of the least expensive select programs in the state and our teams consistently perform extremely competitively.
