RMAYSA Classic Soccer
Classic level soccer is the highest of the three levels of soccer in North Carolina. Classic teams are intended to be highly competitive in nature. Players are expected to support the team in preparing for the higher level of competition. Most classic teams practice 2-3 times per week. Classic league games are scheduled with coordination by team representatives through NCYSA. Our teams are competing against other teams from the Eastern geographic area of the state in different levels of division. All new teams start in Classic Second Division and with success earn the right to play Classic First Division. Teams older than U14 have a third division which is higher still called Premier. A typical classic league year is 8-10 games in the fall and spring season with about half those being home games. U15 and older compete only a single season per calendar year to avoid conflicting with the school soccer calendar. The typical travel requirement is 88 miles average for 4 to 5 games per season. Each team makes their own determination for how much they will choose to travel for tournament play so check with your appropriate team on their plans. There are fine competitions as close as Raleigh and Greeneville requiring only day travel. There are also excellent tournament competitions available throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia within a three hour drive with overnight accomodations. Generally a tournament is for two days and four games of intense competition. Tournaments are a great experience for Classic teams and their families.
